Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just got this e-mail from 4Marks:

Quote:
If you have read the news at all over the past two years, it has been tough to miss the social networking phenomenon on the web. While it began primarily as a teen/college activity, it has now spread to all age groups, business professionals and families.

At 4marks.com we are dedicated to providing web-based applications and content for Catholics to aid in family life and help strengthen the body of Christ. With the ever growing popularity of social networking we have launched FOLIO.It is a web-based application similar to MySpace or Facebook, but with a specific bend toward Catholics in a family-friendly environment.

For some Catholics FOLIO is a great alternative to secular services. For others, FOLIO is a great compliment to using any number of secular services, given that it offers a unique Catholic experience. If you would like to get started right away you can follow three easy steps:

   1. Create your online FOLIO profile using photos, favorites, interests and more.
   2. Invite friends & family members.
   3. Share photos, join an event, or ongoing discussions in the forums.

Below is a list of commonly asked questions about social networking & FOLIO.
What is Social Networking?

Social Networking is primarily a web-based tool that allows people to find, connect and share information. Most find it useful to stay in touch with people in both an active and passive manner.
Why should I use Social Networking like 4marks FOLIO?

Using a social networking service allows you to keep your friends & family up-to-date as to what you are doing in a way that is not time consuming. For example, if you wanted to upload some photos and send them to all your friends you would have to do this in several steps. FOLIO allows you to do this in one quick step with an easy to use photo application and then automatically notifies everyone on your ‘friends’ list about your new photos. These notifications also apply to events you’re attending, articles you read or recommend, online public discussions you might be having and much more!
Why should I use a 4marks FOLIO instead of MySpace or Facebook?

This is not an either/or answer. You can continue to use other social networking sites if you so choose and also use FOLIO. Some people will feel more comfortable using a Catholic site while others are happy to use both.Since your non-catholic friends and family can be on your ‘friends’ list, they too can benefit from using a family-friendly service. The best part is that you can still share your photo albums with people who are not on your ‘friends’ list by simply sending that person your photo album link.We have tried to make FOLIO flexible so you can use it in the way that is best for you.

This does look interesting stef....I'll have to bookmark it for later when the littles are abed so that I can concentrate .... right now I have the Cicely Barker Flower Fairy Alphabet CD -- which is BEAUTIFUL but not conducive to heavy concentration elsewhere

I like the idea but my children and thier friends are all on facebook and not catholic so I love being the catholic influence for them
Plus I find I fit better within the secular community I'm still labeled and get the I'm a bad catholic syndrome when ever I join north american catholic groups for the most part
I like sticking to those God sends me to and leave the distrurbances behind
I love facebook because now I don't have to take hrs sending dd26 pictures via e-mail she can checkout her siblings etc. just with a click .
I have had to write her about some friends who send her bad photos and block my feeds I get from her superwall but I still feel her friends who do that get to see my posts to her and frankly most of these young eople thier arents are all doing the same thing . My friend Mary and I are the only parents in our local group who don't go drinking , tatoo getting etc.
so I'm stickin with facebook for now
