Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

hi all, i hope this is okay to post here. as some of you know i'm writing a Filipino cookbook right now. it's going a bit too slowly for me (all the research that has to be done, etc. -- thank goodness I now have a couple of fellow contributors and foodies that are helping out) but it's getting there. but because of all the reading that needs to be done with that, i keep finding stuff that we can use in homeschooling -- like dishes that have some connection to history (if you want, you can check out my latest post on Napoleon's Chicken Marengo) or to religion or to literature -- and I'm thinking of compiling everything together in one volume.... sorta like a "homeschooler's cookbook", together with a comprehensive index and menus. i'll be off to visit my mom for 3 weeks and while i'm there i'll be working on my query letters for these two projects.... and was wondering if you gals could help me out and just let me know if this is something you *might* be interested in reading if it's ever published. either way i'm still going ahead with my compilation as it's already being put to good use here at home, but thought i'd ask here anyway.... i've found some wonderful reference works on and offline already -- and bunches of literature-inspired cookbooks, like Redwall (coming out in September), Narnia, Secret Garden, Beatrix Potter, etc. and i'll be posting about them when i get back!

How cool. I'm definitely interested. I have a whole bookcase for my cookbook collection! (Not a shelf. The whole darn thing.)

hi all, thanks for the great responses! this is exciting, especially for my kids who get to try the recipes. (my 6-year old wasn't too thrilled with the chicken marengo though.) -- and of course i'll share recipes/taste tests. it's not everyday guinea pigs are this easy to find LOL.

am here in st. louis now, no internet access starting tomorrow:( -- but i'll be praying for all your intentions and checking in when i get the chance. my mom is doing great!!!

will be back in PA after labor day.

angie, LOL, i DON'T! you should see my house these days. it's a complete mess, though we try to work on organizing at least on fridays. i know now what we need in the next house -- a floor with no partitions!!!
