Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

On my home education blog

Next year come to Lancaster, PA. We’re hosting! We’ll be starting the weekend Friday with a big picnic (so everyone has time to visit) and we already have some great talks lined up!

Alice Gunther will be speaking on the liturgical year
Mary Ellen Barrett will be speaking on special needs
Margot Davidson will be speaking on literature
and I think I convinced Molly McGovern to come and give an unschooling talk . . . right Molly??

Yours truly will be speaking on Charlotte Mason and there are few other surprises we're working on. . .

Stay tuned. There will be a conference website going up soon.

Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the 2008 Catholic Family-Centered Home & Education Conference!

Come and be refreshed in spirit - ready to begin your home education year with a renewed sense of purpose! Visit with old friends and make new ones.

...already brought the dates to dh's attention, especially after hearing your talk, Michele!

Please pray that the Navy doesn't have other plans for us...

Whoops! Yes August 8th and 9th. That's somewhat tentative pending the venue but it will probably be it.

Planning on being there myself and with another woman who is getting ready to start the homeschooling journey. She lives in PA, and I called her yesterday after the conference. The Lord really was working yesterday, because she was seriously doubting whether or not she could do this, and hearing my enthusiasm has helped her feel more confident.

And I too, broke out my planner - love it!

Oh Suzanne thank you - what a sweet thing to write. And just what I needed to read tonight as I am feeling a little low. Really they are just WordPress theme templates that I play with - there are so many talented people out there creating those themes - it's amazing.

As for the conference, my one regret of the entire weekend was simply not getting enough time to talk to everyone. It couldn't be helped I know (in large part because I had to man my table) but still. . .

I don't know why but I was surprised by JoAnna's southern accent when I met her. Ummm, she's IS from South Carolina . . . hello!

JoAnna I am SO sorry we didn't get to do the Friday night by the pool gathering. . . Mary Ellen and I were, uh, kind of busy getting a flat tire changed. And when we finally did return we just crashed in ME's room with a bottle of wine and some chocolate!

But I guess we can be thankful that we weren't stuck in that terrible traffic that Dawn and X-Hail and others were. Oh my that would have driven my dh crazy!

I wish I could remember everyone I got to meet and I'm so afraid I will miss someone if I try to list them all. So many times someone would smile at me and I wasn't sure who they were and wished I had time to chat with them.

But the conference was truly a blessing and I want to publicly thank Elizabeth, Mary Chris, Maryan, Rachel, Jenn and Mary Ellen (oh gosh I hope I didn't forget anyone!) for doing an AMAZING job of pulling it off in such a short space of time, from the conception of the idea to the actual implementation of it. Really it was quite a treat to watch it all come together and it could only be God's hand at work to have so many things fall into place so well.

Well done ladies - well done!

We've just had our post-conference pow-wow and it was good to sit and breathe for a moment and reflect on some good memories. With God's grace, we hope to make the conference here in Virginia an every-other-year event. We also hope to nurture some newfound in real life relationships from now into the future. I was astounded at the local numbers and I was also inspired by the warm Southern friendships growing in Louisiana. It's pretty warm here, too I think we've got a good thing growing. So stay tuned for details of get togethers during the year!

And definitely mark your calendars for the conference in Lancaster next summer.. An all-star cast is already packing and planning!

Hey...this Louisiana gal can't resist the idea of a road trip to PA to see bring her Gabriel to see his godparents (X-hail and MArk) and then hang out with the 4realers! We are already planning our trip!
