Has anyone seen this? Let your kids see it? For some reason, I got it from Netflix for the kids, (I am guessing on someone's recommendation?  ). And now, after looking it up on Screenit, I am not sure I want them to watch it.
Opinions? Can I just skip some parts and be okay? Help!

We just watched this movie again the other night. Husband and I, no kids. My kids have seen the ending because there is a wedding scene and my daughters insist on seeing every wedding scene. I would love to show it to them because there are so many truly wonderful moments, but I have serious reservations about some of the scenes/ topics. I would absolutely recommend previewing it.
For example,...the word "incest" pops up and there are some scenes between the father and a buxom widow with some innuendo and some very "physical" comedy. Plus some scenes of peril involving the children.
This is my decision based on my family and not a judgment on anyone else's decision. My children are very sensitive to perilous situations. Yours might not mind as much.

We thought it was great, and pure fluff, but then I am not as conservative in what I let my kids watch as some others are.
We are hoping to get in to see Spiderman 3 tonight!

My husband and I enjoyed it. My 3 year old watched the first 30-45 minutes of it and there was one scene that upset him. It looked like the baby was going to be catapulted into a stew pot but Nanny McPhee bangs her stick before anything happens. My son screamed and then kept asking where the baby was. We spent the next few scenes pointing out that the big sister was holding the baby or the baby was in her crib.
One thing that I really liked about this movie was that the kids cared about each other and the dad loved them and was happy to have a large family.

I saw it earlier this Spring and thought it was dumb! I really didn't like Emma Thompson in it (altho I usually like everything she's in)....I thought the kids were brats and it seemed a rip off of Mary Poppins .... since then, I've read the Nurse Matilda stories which this is based upon.....I'd stick with the books and avoid the film.....

Well, I just watched it and really enjoyed, minus the scene with Mrs Quickly at tea, actually minus all scenes with her. I just don't understand why they take it so far. They could have made her unlikeable without being so crass.
I will let the kids watch it. They will skip the tea scene.
Oh, and someone should have warned this pregnant lady about the worms!

Hmmm, probably first time Mary G. and I disagreed on a literature moment. 
We've watched the movie several times and really enjoyed it...minus the bleached widow character and scenes. I'm with you, Molly. Why do they feel they ahve to go to this extreme.
But the large family and the father who wants to keep them all together and the storybook set-up surrounding Evangeline and they way Nanny McPhee becomes more beautiful in the children's eyes and the fairytale ending...ah, suits my fancy. 
We also read the book and there are differences, as in all things. But cinema magic really makes it all come alive.
