Could any work-at-home moms share with me how they handle it?

I've been a WAHM for almost six years, but this fall, my older two will be going to PS. So I will have to get my work done with just my younger kids here. I don't want to plop them in front of the TV for a few hours each week, but they will need to be occupied or supervised somehow.

Sometimes I can work in the evenings, but as my older ones are involved with more and more activities, it's starting to seem like I will need to work in that brief period between when we finish homeschool work and when the older one's activities start.
