I'm embarrassed to say this, but I haven't really been doing much to store my daughters schoolwork. She's just starting the 4th grade, so I don't really have much. I want to get a simple storage idea to start with her, so I can also start with my son who is in second grade. Basically, I want to get an easy system going. Any suggestions???

My system is to bind all (or a progressive sample and the best) of my children's work into a comb bound book at the end of the year. I divide with titles pages and everything goes in there but their maths books. My children love looking back through their work, like their own memory albums.
Look forward to reading other ideas.

Haphazardly in file folders in a big box (or collection of boxes- that would be 4 children in the 12 years of homeschooling around here!!)..

Sounds familiar. I have four 18-gallon totes in the attic - one for each kid. I call the totes their "memory boxes" and I just throw random things I want to keep in those boxes. My oldest's box is about 1/2 full (he's almost 10).
I put school work in there, cards, trophies, special outfits, etc.

My system is similar to Erin's except I don't comb bind mine. I just use large 3 ring binders. As the kids finish their work I 3-hole punch the assingments and put them in the binder behind tabs on which the subjects are labeled. We use Abeka math in the early grades so at the end of the year I just slide the whole workbook into the binder or, if it doesn't fit I use large rubberbands to attach it to the outside of the binder for storage. When the kids move into Saxon math which they do in spiral notebooks, I just put the notebooks into the binder.
My goal is to clear off some storage shelves in the basement so the binders can sit neatly in a row, all labeled with the kid's names and grades. But, for now, they are stored in boxes in various places on these shelves. I need to get busy and get it organized!

I need to take some of this advice to.
I need to sit down and collect all my dd work into years.
We have always continued on with the same folders, but it not very efficient.
Its great to look back on but I need to address this.
So I have no advice to give, just soaking up everyone elses advice too.

Thank you for your replies!!! I may go the binder way for this year, since she has more work. I was also thinking of getting a tote where you can hang files. This way, I can place several of the early years in one box. Though, I really don't want another tote!

I use a file box- each kid has 1. 2 manilla folders for each year- one for schoolwork and 1 for artwork, drawings, etc.
