Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm the proud owner of a new label maker. I've got some ideas of how I want to start using it in my house, but I'd love you to share all the ways you have used yours, and even your big plans to use it in the future.

Don't hold back...I'm dying to hear, especially if it concerns books!

Kitchen cabinets, labels on the laminate shelves inside as to where things go.

Ditto for the linen cupboards.

Labels have been especially helpful with certain book series...i.e. The Navarre Bible Commentaries are simply titled Pentateuch, Major Prophets, etc. Adding labels that designate OT or NT; adding volume numbers in sequential order; then further labeling with abbreviations of the specific books contained within makes it much, much easier for children to find a needed volume.

Ordering saints books or living history books with dated labels simplifies planning or rabbit trailing a great deal. Bookmarks with subject labels might be fun!

Labeled baskets for medicines, vitamins & supplements, first aid supplies, prescriptions and individual 7-day medicine containers can save a great deal of searching, especially when time is of the essence. In our household they've become essential to my sanity.

I ran out of label tape and couldn't bear to purchase refills, otherwise dh and dc might have found themselves AND all their personal belongings sporting lovely little, overly excessive (or would that be obsessive?!) labels! Have fun!

I don't have a label maker.. but I did buy little sticker labels to be able to label books by general era (my classifications) and perhaps by actual year.. though just the general era will be great.

OH MY STARS!!!!!!! Where to begin?

** shoe bins of craft supplies
** shoe bins of school supplies (pens, pencils, rulers, tape, glue, post-its, etc.)
** manipulatives (particularly Montessori manipulatives in pretty wooden containers that I can't see inside of )
** my liturgical display materials (for my Feast Table)
** book shelves - labeling genres of books (ex: biology, chemistry, ancient history, 19th century American, etc.)
** glass canisters in my kitchen (flour, wheat berries, oatmeal, etc.)
** DVD/Movie notebooks - we label by genre (family westerns, kids cartoons)
** science supplies - I store in clear plastic canisters and label (clear tubing, rocks/minerals, nature treasures, seed pods, soil test, feathers, etc)

I know there's more...is there anything in my home I haven't labeled???? I'll think on it...seems like I labeled more in my kitchen. I'll look while I'm making dinner!

Just thought of something else that's been helpful.

For those larger items that you have more than one of, that "live" in different areas.    ie: 3-hole-punch, calculator, etc....I labeled the location of their home. So, we have 3 calculators. 1 for the KITCHEN. 1 for my DESK. 1 for the bookshelves for the kids.

I labeled KITCHEN, DESK, SHELVES. They get put back in the right spot, even when kids or dh are cleaning up. We don't end up with 3 calculators at my desk and none in the kitchen.
