Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You know this is really embarrassing but although we have usually done at least a little something for the Annuciation (we usually try to do something for a pregnant mother we know) I never made the connection before this year that today is Dh's and I's anniversary!! Dh and I usually celebrate on the nearest weekend - it was not until my friend pointed it out yesterday that yes our anniversay on March 25th is the same 25th as the Feast of the Annuciation!!

Fifteen years ago today dh and I got married by a judge at 8:30 am just before divorce court was to begin! I was pregnant with our first and there was a lot of pressure on dh to not marry me (not from family - thank goodness - but from other friends). We had considered getting married in the Church but a religous brother told dh that no Catholic priest would marry us becasue I was pregnant. Well...many years later we got that all straightened out and I have always attributed my return to the Church to Our Lady and now I feel she has been watching over our marriage too!

I just feel so many blessings today!!

I know it was hard for my mother bringing my sister and I up alone. Since coming back I have seen all the little ways Our Lady has been with me and truly mothering me through all the dark times of my life. Since coming back to the Church I have found out that I was baptized on Feb. 2nd, that I was named for our Lady of Lourdes, and now I finally figured out the anniversary of our marriage is on the Annuciation.

I also later found out that the judege who married us later became a Deacon in another local church - perhaps his blessing helped us through until we were able to get a sacramental blessing on our marriage!

Our Lady truly works in many "hidden" ways!

Thank you for sharing your story, Donna. It's so encouraging to know that Our Lady is looking out for us, even when we don't recognize it. She is a perfect mother and loves us so well.

Peace,
Nancy
