Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are planning to BBQ and I'll make Charlotte's Berries and Stars dessert, but beyond that....????

What about your family?

Our friends expect a gathering every year on Independence Day. So we will be serving a lot of yummy dishes.

Guacamole
Antipasti
Vegtable platter with ranch dressing

Barbequed brisket
Adobo chicken
Sausage: Bratwurst, Italian and peri peri
Potato Salad
Coleslaw
Tossed salad
Pasta salad
Relish plate (pickles and olives)
Beans (the English variety)

Brownies

I hope that I have enough food. I always worry that someone will go home hungry.

No idea yet - I'm thinking poke cake, hot dogs, pink stuff {our family tradition dessert - it's similar to Blondie Salad}, pork and beans, mac and cheese, and veggies. It'll have to be an indoor party this year as we're getting rain from Hurricane Alex.

Money is a bit tight this year so I'm trying to use only things we have on hand already.

We were married on the Fourth of July, and so have hosted a big party on our anniversary--this will be our Fourth Annual. The first three years, we spent it alone, but after our second child, I guess we decided we might as well invite everyone since we weren't going to be alone. Hard to get a babysitter that day

We have done a Mexican/Tex Mex thing with fajitas and margaritas and such in the past.

This year, we decided to have Oktoberfest in July and just got home from the 42 mile trek to the German butcher with an assortment of wurst, German potato salad, and sauer kraut.

We'll have hot dogs, too.

For table decorations, we got tons of fruit to arrange in bowls on the various tables that will be free for the taking.

AND, the grocery had Breyers for $1.99 this week!!! So, we're having ice cream for dessert.

I'll also be making GALLONS of my famous lemonade and my husband picked out some fun beers to share.

I hear yah. Money is painfully tight this year for us as well, but I'm still expected to put on some sort of party because in addition to 4th of July celebration it's my mom's birthday. It has to be very simple. No choice. The Berries & Cream dessert replaces a traditional birthday cake for my mom. She enjoyed it last year.

The board will be closed Sunday so please let me wish you and your husband a Happy Anniversary a bit early!!

My mom would enjoy the German theme!! Her kraut is 100 times better than mine though. lol
