Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently found this knitting bookat Amazon.
In it there is a pattern to make a pincushion that is really a bird's nest with little eggs to hold the needles. Cute enough- but the nest and eggs are actually larger than you would think- perfect for kids to play with. My kids are having a ball with this- all the toy birds in the house are nesting these days. There is a picture with the book link, but it is fuzzy and does not give you any good idea of how cute this turns out. The nest when done actually looks woven.

And if you need extra birds for your nest, check out this free pattern from
Spool

It would be a great project for beginning sewers!

LOVE IT!

A friend and are are going to knit this birds nest pattern up this spring.

I am considering using wood eggs so the kids can paint them true to life for different types of birds.

I haven't decided on how to make the bird yet...I like your suggestion. I was considering making a felted bird from roving.
