Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been making my own laundry detergent for years, but until recently I'd never come across a homemade fabric softener recipe (and my water is too hard for vinegar alone to work). I've been using it for a few weeks and it works really well! Here it is

1 cup vinegar
2 cups water
1/3 cup hair conditioner

(I actually double this, but this is the base recipe). Combine it all in a container (an empty baby wipes box works well) and blend it with a whisk. To use it, soak an old sock in it (I tore a big hole in the toe of the one I use so I don't forget which one it is!) Just wring it out and toss it in with the clothes to dry!

I tried pouring it into my automatic dispenser but it didn't seem to work as well. Also, the first time I had soak it again after the first run through the dryer, but now that it's nice and saturated just once works well.

Thanks for the tip! I am going to try this! We have hard water too.
