Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I mentioned this briefly on another post, but I was hoping someone might have some experience in this issue. I'm 9 weeks pregnant with number 4, and before I became pregnant I started seeing a chiropractor who also is a nutritionist and prescribes homeopathic medicine. He ran some tests and found that I'm allergic to a bunch of foods, (all the major allergins, plus coffee, sugar cane, and blueberries), and found that I have 4 differnt strains of strep bacteria in my intestines, all of which account for chronic diarreah. I've spoken with him about the safety of our current approach (no herbs, just a natural antibiotic suppository and probiotics) and I trust him, but I"m still looking for reassurance. Has anyone else done homeopathic medicine while pregnant? I don't like the idea of taking much of anything, and I"m not looking forward to discussing this with my OB b/c I get the same line from all MD's ("well, this hasn't been really tested by the FDA so we really don't know," but one will prescribe antibiotics "like water" . . . ). Sigh. Anyone in a similar situation?

Thanks,
Anne

Anne,

As with taking anything caution should always be exercised. Some homeopathic remedies are fine in pregnancy some should be avoided (and some at least just until near the end when you may want to induce labor). Always check to see if a remedy is contraindicated in pregnancy. Many are fine and in fact very helpful to use in pregnancy.
