Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone struggle with this? Despite trying food elimination diets(auto immune protocol, paleo, avoiding all the common triggers etc), despite using no fragrances, chemicals etc?

Also - does anyone have experience of Balsam of Peru allergy? Are patch tests worth it to determine this?

Marilyn-

I have occasional bouts of eczema despite being dye and perfume free. They are not nearly as bad as I had when I was a kid, though- before I discovered the dye/perfume link. I have not tried any diet elimination.

One thing that was sabotaging my skin was shampoo. It took me a long time to figure that one out . I switched to DHS Clear Shampoo (dye, perfume and sulfate free), and that made a huge difference for me overall.

I also switched to Cetafil cream and lotion, which works best for me.
My dermatologist suggested it. I was doubtful after having tried Eucerin, Aquaphor, etc, but it really works for me.

I also stick with Dove Sensitive Skin soap.

Have you tried to seriously deal with gut flora issues? My husbands excema was due to Chrons Disease. He has been on the GAPS diet for 3 years, which involves repairing gut flora, and his excema is gone and his Chrons is in remission.

Even just adding the higher grade probiotics recommended by the GAPS diet could help if that were the issue and you aren't at a place to start a new, restrictive diet.
