I'm considering making one last montessori purchase...the binomial&trinomial cubes. For those that have invested in these have you gotten much use out of them? I only want to buy them if the kids are really going to use and learn from them. They appear to be something that can be used in all the age levels from puzzles up to the algebraic equations. I like too that they take a difficult concept like the algebraic equations and make them real and hands on.

I'd say they are a favorite around here, my older kids ages 6 and 9 really like to work with them, more than any other montessori material.

I would have to agree with Andrea, these were a favorite here too! I would say this is one of the top five in terms of free choice items chosen 
Lori at Montessori for Everyone has a nice Algebraic Equations pdf too. Here's the

We have the binomial cube, and the kids really like it and so does my engineer dh!  I highly recommend Lori's pdf's to accompany the cubes!
I may put the trinomial cube on my mid-year purchase list. It's been on my wishlist for some time now.

Oh, I have them both on my wishlist at Kid Advance...among other things. And anything Lori is GREAT! Gotta love the time and quality she puts into her materials!

I definitely recommend them. I have not looked too much at the elementary level (I have the primary training and I'm 1/3 done with the elementary) - but I know they are used at the upper levels.
Sometimes you can get good deals on Ebay. There are a couple of specific Ebay sellers with whom I have always had excellent transactions and materials - for a decent savings from even the discount companies...
