Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a resource for making brown stair control cards similar to these?

What do you think- could I make my own by just tracing around the stairs on brown construction paper, gluing them on a sheet of card stock and laminating?

I am sort of known for my homemade disasters, so I was hoping to down load and print something... but for $15, I'll try to make my own. It doesn't look that hard (famous last words...)

I am planning to do this exact same thing. It seems pretty easy. I just couldn't see using all that ink to print something that would be easy to trace and cut.

I've been wondering about the control charts / cards for Brown Stair and Pink Tower. Could you tell me how they're used? Thanks!

I have these- I'm pretty sure I got them from mm_share. I'll email you the files if you pm me with your email addy.
As far as how I use them I just have the kids match the cards to the actual part. I suppose you could make it harder by having the cards on one mat and the actual pink tower on another across the room.

Our experience: At first, they just match the pieces to the cards; older children will play games with choosing a card from the stack and looking for that piece on the other side of the room (looking and remembering the size), or sometimes take the card with them; lay them out in mismatched order and place the actual pieces on them and rearrange, or do the same thing without the actual pieces.

Really simple around here - just enough extra to maintain interest long enough to develop that sense of 'size' comparison, but not worth paying for in my (financial) book.

I'd love to have more ideas with these...

I read about having the kids sort out the stairs by shape while blindfolded. Now that would be a challenge!

Thanks for the tip. I have joined that group, so I'm off to search for the file.
