Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thanks for sending this Lindsay. My ds wants to be a welder/blacksmith. This is right up his alley.

This is an AMAZING article, Lindsay!!! There is great food for thought here. I'm not even sure where to begin with it...there's so much there. But, it echoes some sentiments I had never before even articulated! I'm so, so very grateful you linked it here for us!

I came across this article last week, and I'm so glad you posted it here, Lindsay--it really is fascinating!

I've forwarded this article to my son who just finished his freshman year of college.

I've told him to read it, print it out and keep it in his wallet, and re-read it whenever he is at a point where he needs to plan courses, apply for jobs or graduate programs, or make any other decisions about his future.

Thank-you for posting it!

Here is a link to the blog "blue collar and proud of it"

http://www.bluecollarandproudofit.com/

This man has also written a book of the same name.

Working with your hands, being "blue collar" is not something to be ashamed of, it should be celebrated.
