Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK - the kids usually has a sweaty smell that I can ignore. But yesterday - its was outright B.O. I am sure he hadn't showered in days. The house smelled hours, and hours after he left. When he was here he was only in ds room but all the upstairs smelled! First I went in, pretending not to know what boy it was, and said in a nice tone, "oh, someone smells, I going to put the airconditiong on awhile and see if that helps". Then another time, as I was opening the window, I said (again pretending not to know who it was) "you boys know you have to take showers every day, right". The neighbor says " oh yea, all 11 year olds, even 10 year olds need showers every day". He was kind of sounding a little to adamant about that satement - making me think he doesn't shower daily. He and his brother wake up after mom and dad leave for work. They get themselves ready for school. Yea, SURE he showers and eats a good breakfast!

So, trying STILL to get the smell out. I am washing sheets and pillows. Fabreezing everything. Then baking soda the carpet and vacuum. Thank goodness I am in Texas and it is a perfect day to open windows.

So, my next thought is - next time I make sure I am at the door when he comes in and if he smells THAT bad then I tell him (nice tone) to go on home and take a shower with soap, wash his hair (very thick, curly, long unkept hair) and get ALL new clothes on. Could be he gets clothes out of the hamper too and thats is part of the problem!

Any other ideas!!??

Just checking-because you never know-are you sure they have water & soap at home? Sadly, we live in an area where there are kids who do not have these basic necessities.

They should. . . kids get themselves off to school so who knows if they even shower. My idea is that mom or dad don't make sure they take shower anytime.
