Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

So I'm home with the new baby, and my 8 yo and 5 yo have 79000 questions about when the baby will be able to do what (laugh, sit up, crawl, talk, sing, etc). Anyone know of any books that might be appropriate for younger elem. kids that maybe give a month by month breakdown of infant development?

Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Did I miss the announcement??

I don't know of such a book -- it would be so cool -- but I wanted to welcome Patrick James!

Congratulations, Noreen and family! Welcome, Patrick James!

Noreen, I'm surprised to say that I can't think of a book of this type...maybe we're onto a great new book idea!

I'm wondering if you can turn this curiosity into a simple project? You can answer their questions using this or other information, then give the children some way of tracking "their baby's" development (a calendar or simple chart would do.) Fun but not too taxing for a mom on her babymoon .

Love,

Oh, I love the idea of a baby calendar made by the children! Definitely would be a keepsake. Maybe you could jot down their questions and write down the answers as they happen.   Welcome Patrick James!

This book - Hello Benny! is sort of like what you are looking for. It doesn't have a lot of detail, but does cover the major stages of development in the first year - with explanations and "what to expect". The illustrations are adorable. I love the Harris/Emberley books about babies!
