Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK - we are a mac family. DD grade 11 wants Word (and I do agree), but I am looking at microsoft and really have no clue what to get? Is there just Word? I see Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office 365 for families, Microsoft office 365 for individual, and just Microsoft office?

I am sooooo confused!

Barb

OH - just saw Office Home and Student 2013?????

OH- what is a 1 year subscription - does that mean you pay the outrageous $99 - $139 price EACH YEAR??? Crazy!!

We use Libreoffice.   It handles the Word docs I receive from our school board just find and will save original documents as Word docs as well.

And it it's completely free! The whole open-source software community has produced a lot of good software.

I told DD how much Office was and she was shocked - so we will not get it. Pages works awesome. I personally disliked Word when I did have it years ago.

Barb,
I use Pages exclusively, and have for years. I much prefer it to Word, too. Sometimes I do need to be able to send someone an article or piece of work in Microsoft Word. You may already know about this feature, but just in case, if your daughter ever needs to convert a document to Microsoft Word:

In Pages --> go to File --> Export to --> Word

The document will be converted to a Microsoft Word document. It can be shared, opened, edited via Microsoft Word now. So, if she ever wanted to send herself a Word document she created and work on it, using Word, from a library computer, she could do that by converting it with Pages.
