Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This year our 2 dd (20 and 16)decided that they wanted to create and serve an anniversary dinner for dh and myself. They enlisted the boys to do the grill, fed all children ahead of time, decorated the entire room - blown up engagement picture, white table cloth, candles (they decorated themselves) - one floating, roses arranged in vases on the table, a seperate table with our wedding book and cake topper and mini lights around the bay windows overlooking the woodsy backyard. They even served the meal - steak, mashed potatoes, homemade bread and salad and Ice cream for desert. They had a little tinkling bell on the table for us to ring for service. My oldest had had me listen to tons of music ahead of time (to find out what I really liked) and then had soft music playing in the background during the meal.

My husband and I were so touched - It was wonderful - a fancy restaurant at home with a very occassional cherub poking his head around the corner to wave and smile. The girls now know this is a routine we would love them to keep up each year. My oldest dd said she just wanted to celebrate it and seems every year, her school schedules move in is on our anniversary. She had gotten our permission to do the dinner a day early because of move in date.

The girls fed the other children sample ice cream in the kitchen, but we just couldn't help it and kept enticing the littlest in for another taste. He presented us with 13 cents and a stuffed dog and elephant.

It was the best anniversary ever and still chokes me up to think of the beautiful people God has sent to grace our lives.

On a funnier note. Our 5 yo discovered that there was red wine - when he learned it was alcohol, he wanted to know if mom and dad were getting drunk . It was a great teachable moment to counter the exposure to the drunks he saw on college campus and the alcohol is evil message on the other extreme.

How sweet! Right down to the tinkling bell to ring for service. Love it!

I think I'm emailing this thread to my dd.
