Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our local school district provides what is called the Chuckwagon Booklist each year of newly released picture books they recommend. I'm not sure if this is culled just within the district or from elsewhere but I have found many great new reads on here. The Chuckwagon list actually says grades 3-6 and there is a Cowpoke list for kinder-2nd grade if you click on the Curriculum Connection link. Ohh...I just saw a Trailblazer list for middle/high school. Haven't checked those out but I might.

At least this is a small way to recoup some of our property tax investment in the school district we don't attend. LOL

Maybe you can find some great reads in your library.

Looking at the current list the one I am most familiar with is Unspoken. It is a really neat book - it's wordless and has been recommended in our Best Wordless Books thread. I'm requesting a few other ones from the list.

When Blue Met Egg - Lindsay Ward

This was one that I saw on the list that I hadn't read yet. I had also seen it on the Cybils list for 2012 so decided to check it out. It is a really cute story.
