Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What are your favorite books that highlight each month or season of the year?

For example:

A Time To Keep: The Tasha Tudor Book of Holidays
or
Elsa Beskow's Around the Year (note, this is the mini edition).

A new one we've found and absolutely love is called Brother William's Year. It is a delight!! I wrote a more descriptive review of it in this blog post. Check it out at your library... you'll want to buy it!

Other favorites?

This one is OP, but we have always loved it:

January Brings the Snow

Another book similar in feel to the very wonderful A Year at Maple Hill Farm is the Caldecott winner:

The Ox-cart Man

Red Sings From Treetops

Just found this one:
Seasons Sewn: A Year in Patchwork

It covers the seasons through the experiences of pioneer families. Also shows different patchwork patterns that are incorporated into the illustrations. So it's a combo of patchwork appreciation, changing seasons and pioneer history. I love scratch board illustrations so this was really appealing. Patchwork theme books are a favorite, too.

The Year Comes Round: Haiku through the Seasons by Sid Farrar illustrated by Ilse Plume.

This book is a must have for your home library! This is one for all the year, illustrating the change of seasons so beautifully through the simple Haiku and gorgeous illustrations. There are 13 Haikus. The order is based on the Gregorian Calendar and Northern Hemisphere, but this can easily be used for those in the Southern Hemisphere because no months are mentioned.

I'm such a huge fan of Ilse Plume, and this new book does not disappoint!
