Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The who? The what?

The Voyage of the Ludgate Hill

I never knew that Robert Louis Stevenson, who was already famous at the time, took a cargo ship (because it would be more interesting) from Englnd to America with his wife. Evidently it was a terrible trip with bad weather, food shortages and monkeys running loose. But he loved it and thought it was grand fun.

This book, written in crazy fun rhyme, is based on his letters home during the trip. The Provensens illustrate. It was my Big Find today

Poetry, boats, animals, Robert Louis Stevenson

That sounds fabulous. Thanks for the recommendation.

My 6YO is studying Robert Louis Stevenson. This would be a great addition.
