S is for Saints

This is a nice picture book by Megan Dunsmore. It goes through the alphabet, but the nice thing here is that some of the letters have more than one saint listed. For example, for W there is St. Wencelas and Sr. Margaret Ward.

The pictures are quite beautiful. The picture of St. Perpetua with St. Felicity is very moving- though not at all scary for younger children.

There is a short bio for each saint, then at the back there is a list of patron saints.   

I know some people don't like the cartoony look of the saints in the ABC of Catholic Saints. This would be a great alternative. I think we'll read a few pages every day through the month of November, starting on the first.
