Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought I would share a lovely, lovely book that my kids and I have enjoyed for some time now. It is called If Jesus Came To My House.

It centers around getting to know Jesus and how Jesus wants us to treat others with kindness. Simple. Delightful. Heart-warming.

We love this book. I'm dismayed they reillustrated the book. I bought a copy from our Catholic bookstore a few years back and it was the original edition. I'll need to pull that out and see who reprinted it.

I pulled out my book. BTW, Cay Gibson uses this book in her "Catholic Mosaic" and I think FIAR uses it, also.

The original edition was 1951 from Lothrop, Lee & Shephard Books (a division of Harper Collins). Joan Gale Thomas was the author and illustrator. It's only a two color book, with black and white and red illustrations that are so sweet and simple.

My reprint doesn't state when or where it was reprinted, only that it's the First Edition printing. Inside it does mention that it went through 14 editions since 1951.

ISBN-13: 978-0-688-40981-4
ISBN-10: 0-688-40981-4

This link pulls up this edition, and I have found many used copies on bookfinder and such.

Just look out for the edition date -- 2005, 2008 will be the newer illustrations.

But the book is still good, whichever illustrations you pick. I'm just an old fogey and like things the original way.

We have loved this book for years, as well. We have the one with the old illustrations---better, in my opinion. I think it is sweet and thoughtful.

I agree completely, the old illustrations are much better and worth seeking out.
