Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When Jen L. helped me find the title of a children's book from my past (thanks again Jen ), I went on a little rabbit trail. Well, a great find on that trail was coming across this amazing and nostalic blog. Vintage Kids' Books. Maybe everyone has already seen this - but I haven't and I love it. I spent way too much time here yesterday! (I hate finding blogs that are several years old because there is so much to search through .) Anyway, the blog author highlights vintage/classic children's books - mostly picture books but also some short chapter books. I had so much fun finding old favorites that I had forgotten or not thought of in years. And also seeing some great titles I want to find that I never heard of. The blog has great visuals from the books which bring it alive as well as interesting facts and background on many entries.

Check it out!

Wow Thanks for this ! I purchase many of our books at the local MCC thrift . All childrens books are .20ea . I just found The Tomten yesterday and few I was not familiar with . Found a copy of Thornton Burgess bedtime stories as well .
One book which looks lovely is titled Pookie in search of a Home by Ivy L. Wallace . When I looked up the author I see there are a series of Pookie books . Pookie appears to be a bunny with wings .I'm looking forward to reading it with ds8 . The drawings remind me of other European childrens books .
Thanks again this is great !

Thanks for the heads up on that link for Golden Gems. It's another fun, nostalgic blog. I hadn't clicked on that link. If you enjoy that blog, you would probably like the Golden Legacy: How Golden Books Won Children's Hearts, Changed Publishing Forever, and Became An American Icon Along the Way - really interesting history of the children's book publishing market. I discovered and re-discovered some treasured authors and illustrators.
