Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I bought Peter in Blueberry Land last year. I love it. The illustrations are gorgeous and it goes so nicely with a reading of Blueberries for Sal.

So I want to buy one more of her books now. They are expensive and I cannot invest in more than one or two a year. I want a storybook (as opposed to Around the Year, which is a poetry book). What's your favorite?

Books -- we LOVE Beskow around here.

Our favorite, and the first one we bought for Maggie, was Aunt Green, Aunt Brown and Aunt Lavender; the second favorite -- especially for those of us partial to wool would be Pelle's New Suit which was perfect for our wool unit we did last year.

All of Beskow's are exceptional -- the illustrations and the stories are very cute ... it would be hard to go wrong with any of them. Woody, Hazel and Pip is very "flower fairy" like as is the Children of the Forest.

Too many choices, huh?

We have these two, besides Around the Year:

Children of the Forest
The Sun Egg

I like Children.... better, but I actually like them all quite a bit....

My kids love Christopher's Harvest Time...I packed away in the fall box and they made me go into the storage closet and retrieve it because they couldn't bear the thought of going a whole year without reading it.

Christopher's Harvest Time!

My older son just loved this book! We used it during the Autumn last year. My 8yo was just completely enchanted by this book. We got a couple more at Christmas last year, but Christopher's Harvest Time remained the favorite.

Our fave is Children of the Forest. We have to read that over and over.

Hmmmmmmmm...Christopher's Harvest Time and Woody, Hazel and Pip are calling to me, but I also like the sound of Peter's House...

Does anyone have that one?

Mary, the library doesn't always work for us...its 30 minutes and is not easy with a baby and a toddler in tow.
