Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone read this at all? The Lady in the Blue Cloak The illustration is beautiful, I am wondering if this image is of Mary Agreda? (Her bilocating to South America way before the Spanish even arrived...)

I haven't, Anne. Bumping because I'm interested, too.

Love,

I skimmed it in the bookstore. I really liked it, but didn't remember thinking it was Mary of Agreda, but the BVM.

I'm back again. I did a little sleuthing. I checked the author's site, and he mentions his main source is Adina de Zavala's History and Legends of the Alamo and Other Missions in and around San Antonio.

That book can be read online, and doing a search for the story (the word "blue"), it was Mary Agreda. So now searchingn for Agreda finds all sorts of passages.

Oh WOW, thanks Jenn for your sluething, now I can't wait to see it! It is a most amazing story in regard to Mary of Agreda, the native people when first being catechized, surprised the padres as they seemed to already have some knowledge of the christian faith - how was this possible? The people referred to the woman in blue...anyway a most amazing story of how it was discovered to have been Mary of Agreda, an enclosed nun in Spain who had NEVER left her monastery - she had bilocated - awesome, hey?

Update:

I have finally read this book to my children today...and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! The first story on Mary of Agreda was simply brilliant and well detailed for a child's story..I am just SO pleased a child's author has given this true story to Catholic children, I think it is important, especially those in the US.

The other stories are lovely as well, the illustrations so beautiful, (one full page sized picture for each story, they are rich and colourful) I'm giving this the big and think it is a must for wish lists everywhere!

For any San Antonian's there are a few stories in this book for them!

Don't know why I didn't weigh in when this question was first asked (I guess because I couldn't remember if one of the stories was on MAry Agreda), but we found the book to be a lovely look at the faith in the southern US as well. It's been awhile since I read it.
