Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Geroge Washington's Cows

This is a very silly little story, but if your children like puns and jokes like that, they will love it.

Here is a snippet from Amazon:
Buoyant rhymed couples have an across-the-board appeal, while the sly political joke that closes the tale will satisfy adults primarily: George, stymied by the animals ("My cows wear dresses, my pigs wear wigs/ And my sheep are more learned than me"), is last seen in a famous pose, being ferried across the Delaware, and saying, "Sell the Farm... I'll try Politics!"

Well this is quite timely. We all seem to be on our George Washington kicks right now. I requested this one along with some others a few days ago. Glad to here it's a good one. My 8 year old likes puns.

Since we went to Mount Vernon in June we've been on a George Washington kick. I think this book is hilarious, so did my son, for different reasons. The real humor is a bit older, which proves to me picture books are not only for the little kids! I just laughed out loud reading this.

Jenn,
I totally agree with you. I laugh at this book for totally different reasons than my kids. I love books like that!
