Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have started the Hands of a Child lapbook for Blueberries for Sal with my dd5 and ds7 and I was wondering if there are any other good picture books about, or taking place, in Maine. I want to add a state of Maine unit as we progress through the lapbook.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I think you will like L is for Lobster. We've used this series extensively and haven't found a book we didn't like. There are free study guides for each book in the series here

McCloskey has another book called One Morning in Maine which is really cute. It is also about Sal and has a sweet story about losing a tooth.

Miss Rumphius and Island Boy by Barbara Cooney.

Love 2 Learn blog has a listing of books (picture and chapter) by state.

Another one on Maine (not explicitly--but it is Sal and her family) by McCloskey is Time of Wonder. Its very poetic, all about the New England beach experience...
