Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are rowing The Raft. Does anyone have plans they are willing to share? I was unsuccessful in trying to find Elizabeth's plans on the rabbit trails yahoo group.
Is that group gone?

Thanks!

Our dc built a raft to see if it would really float. It was a hoot and floated much better than either my husband or I expected. They first tried to follow instructions in a book of Indian craft/skills, but as we didn't have the materials near at hand, they used what was piled around the yard and house.

They used very heavy wood, surrounded it with styrofoam and then covered it with some old linoleum we had up in the attic.

We took it for it's maiden voyage in a creek along a walking trail. I'm sure it was full of cows stuff, etc. and we all got filthy - but it wasn't super deep so even the youngest could try to ride.

It went through a couple of modifications each time. One modification involved finding a substitute for Elmer's glue since that dissolved in the water and the raft began to come apart. They used hammer and nail the second time. I wish we had taken pictures and had the children put together some sort of memory book.

Hope you have fun!

Janet
