Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all!

My son (10) is interested in books about animals who talk and have adventures. He has read and loved Charlotte's Web, The Wind in the Willows, Stuart Little etc. He doesn't like Redwall however.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Editing to add he did read all the Cricket in Times Square series. Thanks!

What about:
Ralph S. Mouse and the books that follow by Beverly Cleary
The Cricket in Times Square and the books in that series by George Seldon
The Rats of NIHM series by Robert O'Brien (which is a little darker - might not like it)

Based on a recommendation from Dave at Bruggie Tales, we started Pigs Might Fly, otherwise known as Daggie Dogfoot. It's as much a hoot to read as it is to listen to with lots of opportunities for interesting voices.

Hank the Cowdog might be a little low for his reading level but my 10 yo ds and I still love them. Same with Thornton Burgess's Buster Bear, Reddy Fox, Peter Cottontail, etc.

Watership Down!!! We are loving this at present.

(Then you could watch the movie after reading - I the song "Bright Eyes" in it.)

Could do a bit of a study unit of the area Watership Down, the author Richard Adams was raised in a near by town. Nuthanger Farm is a real place on the map!

You can in fact try almost any book by Dick King-Smith. They are all great for reading aloud, interesting stories and almost all of them involve animals.

Hehe... my 8yo dd loves any books that star small furry things, especially mice, hamsters, etc.

She loves the Redwall books, but other favorites include:

Ragweed, Poppy, Poppy and Rye, and Ereth's Birthday by Avi

The World According to Humphrey, and Friendship According to Humphrey by Betty Birney
