This is the new series by the author of the Ranger's Apprentice.

WOW. Loved it.

It's a lot more group interaction than the Ranger's apprentice started out. Somewhat typical in that you have the bully and the under-appreciated kid who's really a pretty good leader etc. But it was well done.

Oh my Jodie wait until the next 2 books!!!!! We got them on Audible and listened to the 3 books on our road trip this summer and by the end of the books we had cried, cheered and everything in between. Lovely books and my children actually enjoyed them more than the Ranger's apprentice (at least my older girls who have read both)

Yeah, I've got them in my amazon cart.. at least the second I can get pretty cheap used...

It's got a different feel to it and I think it's the group dynamics and that it's not dominated by Halt's "gloom".

I like both but they are different.
