Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For years and years I have admired Al Young, ever since reading about his homeschooling family in my now-obsolete, very favorite magazine, Victoria. Well, I have never actually bought his Storybook Home, has anyone else? What did you think?

Marianna is getting older and we are working our way into these classic books now. I think it just might be an excellent example of Real Learning for older children/teens (and me - I've never read Wives and Daughters but now I so want to! )

Oh Jennifer! I do so miss the beautiful Victoria Magazine and cannot believe, given its loyal following, that it ever went out of print.

The Storybook Home looks absolutely perfect for us, and I am going to subscribe this very minute.

Don't tell Lissa, but Jane and Rose will be getting a shared subscription for their birthdays as well.

Thanks so much for the link!

Jennifer, I looooved Victoria magazine. My grandmother and I shared a subscription (and many lovely hours reading it together). It was my dream career to write for that magazine ~ only they folded and I moved onto bigger and better things ~ my babies!

Thank you for recommending Storybook Home! It sounds beautiful and right up our alley. I just finished a post about making time to read the classics and this resource would certainly help in that endeavor!

So I received my order yesterday! Has anyone else? What did you think?

I ordered one, Heaven to Betsy, which ended up being in Black and White, not Color. But it's also from 2001, so are the newer ones in color? Or all b/w? I'm really enjoying reading through it and Marianna right away wanted to arrange her hair in a pompadour as per included instructions.

They sent along half a dozen beautiful notecards by Elsbeth all tied up with twine as the order was delayed over Memorial Day - Wow! What talent! (and customer service!)
