I thought some of you might be interested in a new book by Erin Manning, a Catholic homeschooling mom who blogs at And Sometimes Tea. She recently self-published a sci-fi book for the 8-12 year old set called The Telmaj. I saw it mentioned on a blog and downloaded the Kindle version for my daughter and me to read. We both enjoyed it - my daughter especially. It was great to find sci-fi that was fun and interesting to read but also didn't veer into touchy territory like many sci-fi novels do.

A fair warning - this is a first novel and I thought the first few pages were a bit rough. But once she gets going (about three to four pages in), it improves considerably. My daughter read it over a week ago and we are still having conversations about some of the cool plot points.

And no, I don't know Erin Manning - we just enjoyed the book and I wanted to try to provide a little word of mouth (keyboard?) advertising!
