Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have you ever read the real 101 Dalmations novel by Dodie Smith?

I read it years ago, as a teen, and loved it then. I recently listened to it with my dc as a book on tape, and it is as delightful as ever. The Disney version is fun but no match for The Real Thing.

I love all the little details... how the dogs along the rescue route planned the meals and lodging, how the Splendid Vet "did not mind at all being rung up at nearly midnight Christmas Eve and came right round", the dear old spaniel and Sir Charles, the "silent TV" that the puppies loved to watch (Nativity scene).

Plus, I did not remember from so long ago, that this is a Christmas time book with a happy ending on Christmas Eve.

If you have not read it, treat yourself!

Yes, read it as a kid and as a read aloud to the older boys when they were little. Haven't read it to the younger ones as a read aloud and now they aren't even so little...

It was one of my favorites when I was about 12. Thanks for the reminder, Melinda.
