Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I posted a similar SOS on "Rabbit Trails" when my 10 yo ds decided to set up a "Dinosaur Camp" for his younger siblings and little sibs of his pals. Now, camp-o-mania has struck my household, with 8yo ds wanting to do a ...
Musketeer Camp...? We are having some challenges brainstorming this one, so I come yet again to the thread, proverbial cap in hand, for ideas. We keep coming back to the French thing for ideas. Any suggestions for projects that would go along with France? This might be partially inspired by the fact that the French Boys Choir is coming to town and we have 4 little French Boys coming to spend the night in a couple of weeks. So what could be more French to an 8 year old than a Musketeer??

The age group for this is "little kids" up to age 7 (since the "big kid" running it is 8...), and it is only for boys (as dictated by the third grade Boss).

Thanks. Kelly in FL

Make felt hats with long plume feathers. Polish their boots (or shoes). March. Swagger. Write a vocabulary list with words like "forsooth!"

Thanks, MacBeth. I'd forgotten all about the encrypted messages---good reminder. And plumes, and boots, yes, very Musketeerish. We'll do some fencing, as well, always a hit with the lads. Think I'd best go pull out my copy of "The Three Musketeers", though, and thumb thru it for more inpsiration.

I've read the title of this thread at least three times now, but only now clicked on it to read. Each time I skimmed the topics, I was reading "Mouseketeer Camp"!

I was wondering what the old Mickey Mouse Club had to do with real learning!

Ha Ha. I wondered if anyone would think of that! I actually had to doublecheck my spelling to make sure I didn't write "mouseketeers" instead of "musketeers"!

How we are a product of our environment!

Marybeth,
Well, it was the summer for camps: we managed to pull off Shakespeare Camp, Dinosaur Camp and Mermaids-Explore the Sea Camp, all with great success...but we ran out of steam before Musketeer Camp, alas. My 8 year old has informed me he WILL be a Musketeer for Halloween, however, and he continues to work hard at his fencing lessons, so I suspect Musketeer Camp will make the cut next summer.

   Thanks for asking!
