Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am thinking of getting this with my birthday vouchers. Is it worth the price? Please share your opinions.

Thanks

Molly - I tried to post an Amazon link - but it is not working:

A Thomas Jefferson Education: Teaching a Generation of Leaders for the Twenty-first Century - Oliver Van DeMille

It has been on my list for a while - and no local library system has it.

I think this book is fantastic. I bought it at a conference from Andrew Pudewa a few years back.

I did end up also ordering a few of the author's more detailed papers on how to implement it.

The book is very informative and offers a good look at the various "tracks" of education and how to put your child on the right "track".

TJEd is very similar to CM. Basically, the teachers are classic books and good mentors. I am still at a loss as to finding those mentors, but found his suggestions for books to start with very inspiring.

Thanks for bringing this up. I think I need to go back and read through it again. My homeschool is in dreadful need of some inspiration.

I'm re-reading this now and it is worth the price and a good mid-winter shot in the arm. However, if I had to choose between this and Real Learning I'd pick Real Learning in a heartbeat. Poetic Knowledge by James Taylor is a good book too. Hard reading but reminds me why I do what I do.

I have Real Learning too - read bits of it every week - kind of like dessert with a cup of tea.
