Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I admit a penchant for twaddle and my favorite twaddle genres are happy ever afterloooove stories (brit chick lit- esp Marian Keyes)and light hearted mysteries like those by MC Beaton, Janet Evanovich, Phillip Craig and now, Sister Carol Anne O'Marie.

These mysteries are old news probably. Written in the eighties by a nun, they "star" a clever funny but not irreverant nun with a talent for solving crimes and she is a wonderful character.

Wondered if any of you were familiar with these and what you thought of them from a catholic perspective. Dh and I are both enjoying them very much. Each of us has read one book. In the one I read the secondary issue is a couple who is deeply in love who lives together and the man wishes they'd marry in accordance with church teachings. Of course it has a happy ending in this regard. lol

looking forward to your replies!

I've listened to a few on audio. Periodically I get into a mystery mood and cram a couple of mysteries into my reading schedule.

I listened to Death Takes up a Collection first and really enjoyed it. While there are "issues" in the books that the church would frown upon, the characters are very real and so are the issues. These things happen. The reading is light and the mystery is easy to follow, which works well for me because if I can't follow a mystery I never finish it.

And there's always food involved. I just love reading about food. Call me Rachel Ray.
