Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm involved in a book study with 4-5 other catholic homeschooling moms. We are looking for a good book to use and I thought I would ask all of you ladies for suggestions.

I'm thinking maybe something spiritual. You know something like how to be a saint while homeschooling, raising a large family and maintaining a happy marriage. Any ideas???

I want to read that book! Seriously, though, how about something like The Story of a Family, the story of St. Therese's home life? If you want something less story-like and more reflective, a wonderful classic written by Fr. Raoul Plus is Christ in the Home, which is also online for free at EWTN. This book is kind of like an extended session with a great spiritual director. It covers many aspects of home life, including marriage, openness to life, childrearing, etc.
To give you a little taste, here's a quote from a section on childrearing: "Many parents complain that they can no longer get their children to obey...To command requires as much abnegation as to obey. If a person commands to satisfy his need of imposing himself on others, to satisfy his vanity, to prove his power to himself, he has missed the purpose of authority. Authority does not exist for itself but for the good of subordinates." Or this gem from a section on "The Family Table": "Mealtime should serve not only to nourish the body but also to comfort the soul...if the father cannot be present because of his work, the mother at least should be present to set the example for table etiquette, to make sure that the children eat enough, properly, without greediness, and without rejecting what is not to their liking. This is the hour for the household to shake off sleepiness which still stupifies them, and to season the atmosphere with joy and genial good spirit." He also includes lots of little stories and anecdotes to illustrate his points. It is a book that upholds a high and challenging goal for Catholic family life.
