Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I do not have a child with this disorder, but you can google and find success stories.   Here's one

I think your child has a very good chance because she has a family who cares about her.

I find Mary MacCracken's books very encouraging -- she was a teacher who worked with emotionally disturbed children (usually from troubled homes). One book I read recently was
Lovey

I hope others will chime in!

I do not have a child with conduct disorder, but my son has Mood disorder NOS/bipolar and exhibits many of the same behaviors. The book "Transforming the Difficult Child, The Nurtured Heart Approach" by Howard Glasser was very helpful for us, as was "The Explosive Child" by Dr. Ross Greene (for rages).

It might also be helpful to read stories of people who overcame their tendencies to fight, steal, etc. and became role models (St. John Bosco, and so on) to show that she CAN change!

I too recommend the books mentioned by Milehimama. Reading The Explosive Child made a positive difference in the way dh and I parent one of our children. The book has a nice balance of explanation and everyday tips. The stress and conflict level in our house has decreased a great deal.
