Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a favorite book for parents regarding teaching or explaining the faith?

Thanks!

Marybeth

PS...I like to get my dh books for Fathers Day so this is why I am posting this new topic. I get to read them too.

Marybeth,

Have you read/seen the book The Faith Explained by Fr. Leo Trese? CHC sells it in their catalog and our local Catholic bookstore sells it. It's tiny but packed with very thin pages. Of what I have read of it, it's very easy to read and (my favorite part) packed with examples. Like, if a young man claimed to love a girl but never called her or talked to her, does he really love her? In the same way, we must talk to God (prayer) to show that we really love Him.

This book gives such solid examples that all one has to do is look up a certain topic when the child asks (or before you teach him that topic).

I hope this helps. I can't think of any other books like that.

Love,
Kelly in NC

Hi Marybeth,
I was thinking about getting a book from Our Sunday Visitor called Spiritual Workout of a Former Saint. It is a terrific new way for men to gain strenth from their Catholic faith.
