Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are using an old infant and manger that I have had since childhood. What I love about it is that the infant comes out of the manger. Our 22-month-old dauther loves it, too, and has been seen the last two days with her precious little fingers wrapped around "Baby Jesus" tightly, carrying it wherever she goes.

I'm looking for thoughts on whether this statue may contain lead paint. It was made in Italy. The paint is not chipping, per se, but does show wear in places. You can see a green colored paint underneath. Our daughter wants to kiss Baby Jesus! I want so much to let her, but of course have concerns about her even holding the sweet little babe at this point. Do you have any thoughts or ideas about this?

Just to be safe, I'd pick up a test kit and check that Infant out!

We did puchase a test kit at the local hardware store and there was just the faintest hint of pink around the edge of the tip when I tested the infant, but when I tested the manger, the tip did turn a darker shade of pink/yellow. I've decided that tomorrow we're off to find a new creche that has a removable infant! Thanks for the tip!
