Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have suggestions for a god mother gift for a highschooler? We are having the baby's uncle & our niece as god parents. I would like to get her something as a remembrance gift but am at a loss for ideas. Most of the "godmother" type gifts seem to be aimed at older people.

Maybe a picture of her holding the baby at the baptism in a beautiful frame? And a thank you note from her godchild?

I find good Catholic books wonderful gifts - it is usually something they won't necessarily spend the money on themselves in this way and if it is a really good choice, they should treasure it for life.

My two goddaughters received books this year - my 10 year goddaughter received 'The Princess and the Kiss' and my 17 year old goddaughter received a vision book, 'St Joan of Arc'. These are gifts that you hope will really enhance their faith, rather than being purely decorative.

This is off the subject a bit, but I gave all my school girlfriends copies of "The Faith Explained" obviously many, many years ago now! Last year one of those girls who has been a protestant for 9 years, had a crisis of faith and felt she had to know more about the Catholic Faith - I was in hospital at the time and she couldn't contact me - so she scrounged through her library and found that book and 'Surprised by Truth' I had given a few years back. I suppose what I am saying, is you never know how these 'gifts' could effect their lives for a great deal of good!
