Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My kids wanted to get my husband the movie "tHe Blues Brothers" for Fathers Day. I read the IMBD parents advisory and am uncomfortable bringing the language into my home. So then I suggested Jim Gaffigan to the kids, but from reading online reviews it looks like some of his stuff is past our comfort zone. I am looking for something g rated but funny. Any ideas?

I don't know what your comfort zone is, but dh and I do like Jim Gaffigan. Not for the kids, but for us it is fine and does not approach Blues Brothers.

Is this a movie for the kids to watch with your husband? Does it need to be "hip" like Blues Brothers?

If you are willing to go back a bit further, you can find classic comedies that do not have language. I like some of the old screwball comedies like Bringing Up Baby (one of the funniest movies ever), Arsenic and Old Lace, It Happened One Night, and The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer. Or something like The Marx Brothers if that is more his speed.

Some of the classic Disney is really funny and clean like The Absent-Minded Professor.

You could also consider television series like Andy Griffith or The Dick Van Dyke Show for Dad-centered, classic comedy.

Three Amigos is one I remember watched with mixed groups (kids and adults), but I haven't seen it in years since I've had my own kids, so I don't remember if there is language.

I like that one, too! I thought of it and then forgot to list it!
