Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I saw mention of this on FCL (thanks Sonya!) and then Catholic Exchange. Basically, an Other-cott is being organized -- don't just boycott seeing DaVinci Code which comes out next weekend, but take sales away by going to see Dreamworks' Over the Hedge. It may not be a perfect movie, but it's a major release that is slated as a family film (by the makers of Shrek).

Here's a link to further information on my blog.

I blogged about this topic too, Mary, from a "personal plea to a loved one" perspective. Praying, praying, praying!

Thanks, Mary .

That's our plan. We only have one movie theater in our small town with 4 screens. I don't know if they will be playing Over the Hedge at that time, but if not we will watch something else, like Hoot.

Angie, I saw your post after I posted mine, else I would have referenced it. It is very good.

Did you get an odd comment to your blog about it? It was from someone "SevenStar Hand" or something like that who claims he/she has the truth that's been hidden for centuries and the Vatican's refusal to encourage Catholics to see the movie is "proof". I "rejected" the comment but it did kind of give me the willies only because it seemed calm, but also a bit "disturbed".....
Yuck!

Blessings

You are so good at keeping up with the blogs, Mary. I'm hoping to get some time later tonight to read and relax with my blogging friends .

Nope on the comments. I have to approve all comments and nothing weird has come through yet. Sorry you had to be touched by yuck.

Love,

One of the ways my extended family deals with serious stuff is through humor. Here is quip from one of my family about TDVC. Camie is his dog...

Camie said that TDVC pales in comparison to the Eukanuba Dog Food Code (EDFC). Apparently, if the ingredients are read backwards they say that cats are evil and birds are soul stealers. Plus, the bag is pink on the outside and brown inside, just like pigs. This can only mean that a penguin should never play in the same sand box as a duck bill platypus!!! Nevertheless, she has decided to hand out flea collars to all the neighborhood pets instead of going to the TDVC premier on the 19th.

Love,
