Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Thank you for the reminder, Angie! I wrote it down in my planner several weeks ago, but I haven't looked in there in a while.

By this Novena (of chaplets), I will grant every possible grace to souls. (796)

The Divine Mercy novena is special to me. My father died of pancreatic cancer five years ago. He only had 5 weeks to live after his suprise diagnosis. I said the Divine Mercy chaplet in the car as I drove to my father's home each day (I was his hospice careperson)and at his bedside during the last week of his life when he was in and out of consciousness.

When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between my Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge, but as the Merciful Savior. (1541)

My dad died at 3:00 on Divine Mercy Sunday.

Love,

Thanks for the reminder! It has been in the back of my mind during the day and when I finally got home I forgot! Too late to wake the kids, but at least dh and I can start it today.

Rebecca,

What a beautiful story about your dad.

I have a dear friend who lost her first husband and shared it with me at our first Divine Mercy Sunday celebration. After receiving Communion and fulfilling the indulgence, she received assurances that his soul had gone to Heaven.
