I want to start using the Home Catechesis books...I have the first one that is for 3-6 year olds. Does anyone here have the other two for older kids? I wanted to know, is it possible to kind of do all three books as a family? I'd rather not do seperate lessons for different age groups, but rather work our way through all three books, presenting the lesson to all and letting each child get what they can from it. Is that possible?

I'm trying to track down my first two manuals, but I'll take a stab at answering your question. Simple answer, if you are starting at the first book and doing it all together and gradually work up to the next level, it can be done. But if you are trying to use the older level book to teach the younger, that won't work.

I think Moira gives some tips on introducing and teaching to the whole family in 3-6 volume. But the material is based on the Montessori

Infants
Toddlers (Approx. a 1 year program for ages 2-3)
Primary (Children’s House) (Approx. a 3 year program for ages 3-6)
Lower Elementary (Approx. a 3 year program for ages 6-9)
Upper Elementary (Approx. a 3 year program for ages 9-12)]

Each level has the strengths and weaknesses. 0-6 is called the "Absorbment Mind" with periods of sensitivity. 6-12 is Cosmic Education, where the child wants facts and know about everything. So the approach in the Level I is quite different than level 2 and 3Age 3-6 is not at the age of reason, it's not sacramental preparation, and not so much of fact giving. it might not please an older child who will ask more probing questions and want more detail. In that regard, you will have to supplement for the older ones.
