Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Pope Benedict issued a statement earlier this year on the 44th World Communications Day. Since this is the Year for Priests his message was directed to them in regards to carrying out their ministry using digital technology.

The Priest and Pastoral Ministry in a Digital World: New Media at the Service of the Word wrote:
Who better than a priest, as a man of God, can develop and put into practice, by his competence in current digital technology, a pastoral outreach capable of making God concretely present in today’s world and presenting the religious wisdom of the past as a treasure which can inspire our efforts to live in the present with dignity while building a better future?

In the past we have shared here a thread of "Favorite Priest Blogs." Blogging is one way we are seeing priests use the modern communication of the internet to preach and teach. I think it's great. I was recently thinking of other venues of technology for this purpose because we have in our diocese a couple seminarians who started a website with some regular podcasts on Catholic topics - "Catholic Stuff You Should Know. We really enjoy these short and informative podcasts - maybe that is because we know these guys and their banter and personalities really come through for us. They are humorous but serious (and orthodox in teaching). Anyway, I wanted to share this resource with you if you are interested. My kids particularly enjoy these and learn a lot.

I would love to hear of other similar ventures of priests or seminarians - ones who are following the Holy Father's call to use the new technologies of the internet to spread the gospel message of our Faith.

We already have the thread for blogs - so how about recommended podcasts, audio clips/sermons, etc. that you have found and enjoyed.

Thanks!!

I read Fr. Angelo Geiger FI's blog
Mary Victrix

His post on the Triduum gave me a lot to think about.

I really enjoy listening to Audio Sancto when I iron. I learned about this site from Jessica. Homilies/Sermons given by various priests are shared on the website. During Holy Week, my husband and I listened to Lenten Mission: Overcoming Obstacles to Holiness. The priest shares some very wise advice!

We are incredibly blessed with Father John Riccardo, who is the pastor for Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth, MI. He has spoken at so many men's conferences, women's conferences and more, plus he is has a show on our local Catholic radio statio (990am Ave Maria,) which is called "Christ is the Answer." You can find his talks here. My 21yods downloads his talks and homilies onto his ipod. I just listen to them on the computer.

God Bless,
Stacy in MI
