Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi, Ladies.

I just received a call from a lady at our parish who informed me that our pastor will be celebrating his 10th ordination anniversary on March 4th. They are planning to have a low-key (since it is still Lent, after all!) dinner in his honor and present him with a spiritual bouquet from the parish on the 6th (I think.

Someone else has already prepared spiritual bouquet cards for adults that will be handed out after Mass this Sunday (after Father has left to say his next Mass at a different parish).

The Lady from my parish has asked me to be in charge of making a similar spiritual bouquet card for the children of the parish to fill out.

She said that Fr.'s favorite saint is St. Augustine, and they have an image of him on the front of the adult cards.

On the inside of the adult cards they have prepared a list of possible options for each person to choose from, such as having X number of Masses said for Fr., praying X # of rosaries for Fr., etc. She suggested that inside the children's one it could have "I will do the dishes for my mom in your honor" or something similar, in a similar format as the adults.

SHe also suggested (and I really like this idea) that there be a space for the child to draw a picture of Fr.

So in my head I am imagining a two sided card, roughly 4" by 6". On the front could be a blank area for drawing the picture, and on the back it could say something like:

Thank you, Father Joseph! In your honor I will....

and be followed with a list of potential sacrifices or prayers to do as a spiritual bouquet.

I do want it to be lovely and very special, though, because our priest is really like a member of our family to us and many other parishoners. He works tirelessly around the clock and wears so many hats- runs two parishes, works the tribunal for the diocese, is the chaplain for the local traditional catholic school, says the Latin Mass once a month for our half of the diocese, and still has time to come to dinner for my kids' birthdays.

I need your help! I need all your creative juices flowing here!

Any ideas? I would love a little verse or poem or prayer, a pretty image, suggestions on a list of possible "flowers" for the bouquet.... anything you can think of!

I have to have them ready to hand out after Mass on Sunday, so I really need some help quick!

Thank you!

I don't know if these will help, but some past threads on Spiritual Bouquets/Cards which might help you with images or verses.

Making a spiritual bouquet for a priest

Spiritual Bouquets which includes a link to Alice Cantrell's downloadable card.

Thanks, Mary!

I got some great ideas from those, and I think I decided what to do. If I can figure out how, when I finish I will post an example here.
